Annette Bening is one of America's acting treasures, Oscar-nominated for performances in such films as The Grifters, American Beauty, Being Julia and The Kids Are All Right. Her work in other movies such as Milos Forman's Valmont, Mike Nichols' Postcards from the Edge, Warren Beatty's Bugsy as well as Love Affair, Rob Reiner's The American President and Rodrigo Garcia's Mother and Child has received great acclaim. Her latest triumph is the leading role in 20th Century Women, written and directed by Mike Mills, whose Beginners earned an Academy Award for Christopher Plummer in 2011. In his autobiographical dramatic comedy set in 1979 Santa Barbara, she plays a powerful if vulnerable matriarch, with an ensemble cast including Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup and Elle Fanning.
