David Sidorsky, a professor of philosophy at Columbia University, speaks about the complicated philosophical relationship between art and morality. This is the third lecture in a series exploring the philosophy of values. Sidorsky contends that what makes describing the connection between art and morals difficult is an “inability to make a value theory cohere with artistic experience.” He explores this difficulty first historically, paying particular attention to Jewish perspectives, and then logically. The lecture is followed with questions from the audience.
