Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Colson Whitehead (The Underground RailroadThe Nickel Boys) opens the Poetry Center’s 83rd season with a presentation of his new novel, Harlem Shuffle.

A love letter to 1960s New York, Harlem Shuffle is a family saga masquerading as a crime novel, a hilarious morality play, and a social novel about race and power. “Whitehead is a splendidly talented writer, with more range than any other American novelist,” writes George Saunders. “He can be funny, lyrical, satirical, earnest—whatever is needed by the work.”
