Language specialist Dr. Lydia Soifer spoke with us about the right words after tragedies like the Connecticut school shooting. Soifer uses the example phrases of "I'm here," "I know," and "I feel so sad" as comforting phrases after tragedy. For children, Soifer advises parents to choose their words carefully, advising "mommy is here," "daddy will keep you safe," and "you can always come to me."
