Playwright Wendy Wasserstein speaks with Jane Alexander, chairwoman of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), about her acting career, her position in the NEA, and her experience playing the role of Sara Goode in Wasserstein’s play, The Sisters Rosensweig. Alexander also discusses the challenges of fighting against budget cuts and the impact that arts programs have on youth, as well as sharing her experience speaking in front of Congress about endorsing and supporting the arts.
