Kenneth Noland

Nov 15, 1989

Jack Flam, art critic for The Wall Street Journal, interviews Kenneth Noland, a painter known as one of the great colorists of the 20th century. They discuss Noland’s career, his approach to abstract expressionist painting, and his position on the contrast between design and color theory. Noland shares slides of some of his work and discusses his opinion about teaching art, as well as the reactions that people have to his work in exhibitions and museums. The discussion is followed by audience questions.
