In 2024, New York enacted its own Equal Rights Amendment – Proposition One – one of the most comprehensive and inclusive equality provisions in the nation. This panel will examine the legal and strategic lessons from the campaign that led to its passage. Panelists will analyze how New York can deploy this robust constitutional tool to challenge discrimination in various forms – and explore its potential for establishing more enduring protections. The discussion will also consider how New York can serve as a model for other states.
