German social psychologist Erich Fromm discusses human violence, including its causes and varied forms. Fromm explores the theories of Herbert Marcuse and Wilhelm Reich, as well as Sigmund Freud's life instinct theory. The discussion concludes with audience questions. Note: Fromm does not discuss the works of Konrad Lorenz or Robert Ardrey in this lecture.
