Rabbi Paul Joseph, Associate Director of Humanities for Jewish Education at the 92nd Street Y at the time of this recording, moderates a discussion with Rabbi Irving “Yitz” Greenberg, co-founder of the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership. Greenberg discusses martyrdom and the Jewish precepts of Kiddush Hashem, or the sanctification of the Holy Name, and Chillul Hashem, or the desecration of the Holy Name. He shares his belief that Judaism should be centered upon the concept of repairing and improving the world, rather than upholding a singular, absolute truth. The discussion is followed by audience questions.
