Seeking Justice: An Evening with Dr. Carolyn Goodman and Jerry Mitchell

Sep 21, 2005

Investigative reporter Jerry Mitchell speaks with psychologist and civil rights activist Dr. Carolyn Goodman. In 1964, Dr. Goodman’s son, Andrew Goodman, and two other activists were killed by the Klu Klux Klan in Mississippi. Dr. Goodman speaks about her son, his legacy, and the aftermath of his murder–including the complacency of law enforcement. She encourages young people to get involved with the fight for social justice and to “be aware of what's happening” around them. Mitchell also speaks about his own career investigating civil rights cold cases in the South. He reflects specifically on his work related to the assassination of Medgar Evers and the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama.
