Dr. Margot Krebs speaks with Dr. Sherwin B. Nuland, Clinical Professor of Surgery at Yale, about his memoir, Lost in America: A Journey with My Father (2003). This event is part of the Jewish Literary Exchange discussion series. Lost in America explores Dr. Nuland’s battle against chronic depression, his relationship with his father, and his recognition that “coming to terms with your father is coming to terms with yourself.” He speaks with Dr. Krebs about his hospitalization and treatment for depression and reflects on his father’s experience as a Jewish immigrant in New York. The discussion is followed with questions from the audience.
