Rabbi Harold Kusher speaks at the 16th Annual State of World Jewry, addressing the spiritual, political, and social conditions of the Jewish people. Kushner shares his definition of what it means to be Jewish, as well as his concerns about changes to the traditional Jewish household and the separation between American Jews and Jews in Israel. He also discusses his views on Jewish converts, interfaith marriages, and the value of Hebrew as a shared language. Kushner is the congregational rabbi of Temple Israel of Natick, located in Massachusetts, and is best known for his book, When Bad Things Happen to Good People (1981).
