Universality of Mathematical Concepts

Mar 14, 1967

Mathematician Mark Kac gives a lecture on the universality of mathematical concepts, with a focus on mathematical analysis and probability theory. Kac provides examples of different mathematical problems and explains how he approaches finding their solutions through the composition of patterns. He also discusses mathematics’ unique position in the sciences, believing it to be both an art form and an interdisciplinary subject that serves many other fields.
