Dance Movement Therapy Program

92NY Harkness Dance Center is a place where pioneers and leaders in the field of Dance Movement Therapy bring instruction of the highest caliber to professionals and prospective mental health practitioners.

In addition to offering continuing education for practicing Dance Movement Therapists, we also welcome psychologists, social workers and educators who want to enhance their practice. We are the only provider of Alternate Route courses in NYC and are committed to furthering the field through creativity, support and innovation.

All Dance Movement Therapy courses are eligible for American Dance Therapy Association CE hours. For further information about the ADTA, please visit www.ADTA.org. Most Dance Movement Therapy courses can be taken for college undergraduate or graduate credit through Empire State College. To learn more about this option, call 212.415.5555.

Dance Education Laboratory

The Dance Education Laboratory is a professional development program for all educators and artists interested in developing their dance education curricula.

All DEL courses align with the New York City Department of Education Blueprint for Teaching and Learning Dance in grades K-12. Graduate or undergraduate college credit can be arranged with SUNY Empire State College for an additional fee. 92nd Street Y is a vendor listed with the New York City Department of Education.

92NY Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) is a New York State Education Department-approved Sponsor of Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) and provider of CTLE hours pursuant to Section 80-6 of the Regulations of the Commission of Education.

College credit for DEL courses: SUNY Empire State College

Matriculating undergraduate graduate credits for DEL courses may be arranged through SUNY Empire State College. Students currently licensed to teach by the New York State Education Department may apply credit toward the Content Core – Dance requirement for dance teacher certification. College credits also comply with New York City Department of Education salary differentials for teachers. Credits may also satisfy dance content requirements for graduate K-12 certification programs, such as the CUNY Hunter College Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program.
