UpTide addresses the “Crisis of Community”—the growing disconnection that fuels many of today’s most pressing challenges. This accelerator supports U.S.-based nonprofits that have pioneered scaleable, replicable models to increase connection and strengthen community ties.

For over 150 years, 92NY has been a hub of connection—from its founding as a refuge for newly arrived Eastern European Jews to its evolution into a global center for culture and community in New York City and beyond. Through the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact, 92NY channels this legacy and commitment to community into meaningful social change.

Today, community and connection are more critical than ever. Isolation, polarization, and the decline of communal institutions threaten the very fabric of our lives. But when people come together, they foster belonging, purpose, and lasting impact. 

Community is an anchor to move us closer towards collective wellbeing. When communities have the tools and resources they need, they create durable change and combat the isolation, polarization, and decline of communal institutions that threaten our ability to thrive.

Over the next 5 years, UpTide will develop 50+ nonprofit leaders whose organizations will double their impact within three years of completing the UpTide accelerator, reaching 500,000+ people.
