Our Staff
Staff are carefully chosen for their maturity, energy and experience with children. Counselors are entering 11th grade and older. Specialists are skilled and experienced in the areas they teach. Unit Supervisors and Head Counselors are caring, experienced educators with a love for children and a commitment to our camp philosophy and program.
A large percentage of our staff return year after year and many of our counselors attended our camps when they were children. The camp administration is comprised of experienced professionals who have many decades of camp experience to draw upon to ensure a fabulous summer for our campers.
Staff Positions
We are looking for staff who can work, from Monday, June 30-Friday, August 15, 2025. Pre-camp orientation is mandatory and begins in early June.

Summer Leadership
Directors, Assistant Directors, Supervisors, and Head Counselors
Join our leadership team! Camp Leadership expected to help incorporate our camp Jewish values including: mindfulness, compassion, courage, being a leader and being a mensch into the staff and camper experience.
These positions may include pre-camp planning including spring retreats, hiring of staff and correspondence with camp families. They also involve supervising staff.
Leadership staff must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment for long hours, outdoors and still smile. We are also interested in fluent Hebrew speakers to work at camp Ilanot, 92NY’s Hebrew immersion camp.
Program Aides
This position is specifically for current 9th graders (entering 10th grade in Fall 2025). Program Aides “PAs” are responsible for helping ensure camp runs smoothly. This role involves setting up for lunch, supporting towel service and being a team player.
Counselors (General, Inclusion and Teen Travel)
Counselors are responsible for the safety and well-being of the campers. Counselors must be enthusiastic, caring and be able to be a supportive role model to children ages 5-14. Counselor responsibilities also include leading groups of campers and participating in all group activities throughout the day.
Camp Yomi – Traditional day camp for entering Kindergarten-4th graders
Camp Ilanot – Hebrew Immersion for entering Kindergarten-4th graders
Camp Yomi Seniors – entering 5th and 6th graders.
Staff accompany the campers to our campgrounds in Rockland County, day trips from the city each day as well as a few overnight trips.
Trailblazers – our teen travel camp for entering 7th-9th graders.
Staff accompany the campers on a day-trips from the city each day as well as a few overnight trips throughout the summer.
Counselors for Campers with Special Needs
The Special Needs Camp Counselor is responsible for directly supervising and nurturing a specific child or small group of children in Camp Tova or Camp Yomi Inclusion. Camp Tova is designed for campers with ADD/HD, Learning Disabilities, Autism Down Syndrome and other social or emotional challenges. Experience working with these populations is preferred. The Special Needs Camp Counselor is responsible for directly supervising and nurturing a specific child or small group of children. Experience working with these populations is preferred.
Inclusion Counselors work in our traditional day camps, Camp Yomi and Yomi Seniors, to provide support to campers who need extra support throughout the day at camp.
Internship Opportunity in Camp Tova The Seaver Autism Center for Research and Treatment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is dedicated to discovering the causes of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and developing new treatments. The mission is to bridge the gap between scientific discoveries and translation to the community of new and improved approaches to caring for people with ASD. The Seaver Autism Center takes a unique genetics-first approach to ASD, which allows for highly coordinated preclinical (basic science) and clinical studies with a focus on experimental therapeutics. The Seaver Autism Center also offers a robust Training Program where trainees at all levels of experience work closely with mentors. As part of the collaboration between the Seaver Autism Center and 92NY Camp Tova, Seaver Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the clinical presentation and treatment of ASD, in addition to being introduced to ASD diagnostic assessment tools through direct clinical experience and training videos. Interns will also work on existing community partnerships aimed at increasing accessibility and access to care for children and adolescents with ASD. Eligible employees will work 5 days a week - 4 days at Camp Tova in Rockland and 1 day a week will participate in the internship with The Seaver Autism Center.

The Camp Activity Instructor is responsible for the planning, leading, and implementing of age-appropriate instruction for his/her specified activity (see list below). They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants that attend his/her specialty program. The incumbent will provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants. Applicants must have experience teaching their activity and be at minimum a college graduate as of May 2025 to qualify for this position.

We are seeking aspiring or current early childhood educators to work in our early childhood camp this summer. Counselors are responsible for the safety and well-being of the campers. Counselors must be enthusiastic, caring, and be able to be supportive role models to children ages 3-5. Counselor responsibilities also include leading groups of campers and participating in all group activities throughout the day including swim. All camp programs take place within the 92NY Nursery School in New York City.

Lauren is a long time camp enthusiast. Lauren grew up as a camper, counselor and division head at Pinemere Camp, a JCC sleep away camp in the Poconos. After graduating from The University of Maryland with a Bachelors of Arts in Secondary Education in 2002 and a Masters of Education in Adolescent Development in 2005, Lauren worked as an educator in both Maryland and New York City. Lauren has brought her passion and dedication to 92Y Camps for the past 17 summers. In this full-time role, Lauren constantly strives to give campers and staff meaningful and positive experiences at summer camp. Lauren has served on the Tri-State Program Planning Committee for the American Camping Association. When not planning amazing summer programs, Lauren spends her free time with her husband, two sons and dogs, Max & Tess.

The first voice you hear when you call the camps offices belongs to our beloved Stacey. Stacey embodies what it means to “live ten for two.” Stacey grew up in Long Island attending camp as a camper and counselor at Camp Kennybrook, a sleepaway camp in the Catskills. She joined 92Y Camps in 2014 and has gone from Head Counselor to Unit Supervisor to now full time Camp Yomi Director. After graduating the University at Buffalo, majoring in Communication, Stacey continued her education to pursue her passion of working with children by receiving her masters at Hofstra University in Elementary Special Education. She went on to become an elementary school teacher for seven years, and then, Assistant Director of a local Upper East Side nursery school. She brings her passion for education, communication, and a love of camp to everything she does. Stacey currently serves on the Tri-State Leadership Committee for the American Camping Association. When Stacey is not working, she enjoys spending time with her nieces, working out and at the beach.

Rachel’s love of camp began as a camper, and she brings her enthusiasm and passion to her role as Associate Director of Camp Ilanot and Administration, Children’s Enrichment and Engagement. She has lived both in Israel and the United States, is fluent in both Hebrew and English, and is dedicated to infusing Camp Ilanot with Hebrew, “Israeliness”, innovative programming, “kef”, warmth, and personal growth. Rachel has a Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, spent a semester at Hebrew University, and has a Master’s degree in Leadership of Community Based Organizations from the Bank Street College of Education. In addition to leadership roles in Camp Yomi, Rachel spent many summers in senior staff positions at Camp Ramah. Rachel has worked at Masa Israel in both New York and Israel, and was the North American Program Coordinator for the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. Rachel is excited about Camp Ilanot’s unique ability to offer a great camping experience, together with Hebrew immersion and Israeli culture.

Velez has been with the 92NY community for over a decade in various roles. Velez started working at 92NY in 2006 as a counselor in Camp Yomi. He went from counselor to head counselor and also worked at our Afterschool program as a Clubhouse Supervisor. Velez joined the Camps full time team in 2016 as Camps Program Manager and more recently as the Associate Director of Children’s Enrichment and Engagement. In this role, Velez plans to bring new, fun and creative programming to camp. During his free time, Velez enjoys staying active and exploring new restaurants around NYC.

Orlee joined the 92NY Camps team 14 years ago as a Head Counselor in Camp Yomi and grew professionally — helping to begin Unit K as the first Unit K Supervisor, and more recently as the Assistant Director and Director of Yomi Seniors. She spent a decade teaching in nursery schools on the Upper East and West Sides, while spending her summers in camp. Orlee has her Bachelors in Early Childhood Education from Yeshiva University, and has a Masters in Early Childhood General and Special Education from Bank Street. She joined the full time camps team in 2017. Currently, in her role as Director of After-School and Director of Children’s Enrichment and Engagement, she strives to create community and a space for all children to be successful.

Among her roles, Mia was a Counselor, and Programming Head Counselor at camp, and more recently a Clubhouse Supervisor at Afterschool. Armela has embraced a new role each year since, most recently as the Programming Head Counselor in Unit 1, our first grade division. Corey is no stranger to the 92NY community since beginning at age 5 as a Camp Yomi camper continuing with 92NY Camps through age 14 as a Trailblazers camper. Corey transitioned from being a camper to staff member, beginning as a Program Aide, growing into a Counselor, Head Counselor and Unit Supervisor. During the school year, Corey worked as an Afterschool counselor and more recently a Clubhouse Supervisor. Excited to continue his professional growth, Corey became the Afterschool Program Associate in February 2023. Corey brings passion, energy, plus fun and is not shy or afraid to bring his all. In his free time, Corey loves going to the gym and working out, and spending time with his family.
